I love the opportunity to photograph the couple interacting with each other in a beautiful natural setting. This image has the qualities of joy, spontaneity, and naturalness that I strive for.

I’m always looking to capture the spark between the couple. It helps to let them move freely, talk or whisper, and just engage with each other naturally.

As part of the documentary process I’m always looking for a images that are  more creative. Here we sense Liz’s anticipation just prior to the ceremony, and the unusual composition holds some mystery, as well.

My wedding work is influenced by photographers in the art world, in this case Martin Parr. He is known for his candid portrayals of British middle class life. This image is an homage to his colorful, playful style.

Capturing a tender emotional moment with the couple in focus and the rest soft results in a special frame.

Family and friends should figure prominently in the day’s shoot. Here a fire at dusk, where no one is aware of the camera, creates a truly candid moment.
