DIY Scroll Style Placecard Project

Hello! My name is Jennifer Carroll and I’m very excited to be sharing wedding ideas & inspiration with you once a month! Thank you so much to Claire & Jessica for inviting me to play in their sandbox :-) Here in Charlottesville we are in the throws of our busiest wedding month of the season but I wanted to take a quick break from all the wedding planning bliss to share this fun placecard project with you.

When planning the decor for your celebration, it’s wonderful to incorporate seasonal decor both for the pure aesthetic appeal but also as a way to help stretch your planning dollars. In October, pumpkins are the  go-to decor element but orange may not fit with your color scheme, so I’m happy to introduce a sweet and very romantic option. This scroll style placecard is way more Cinderella than Harvest, at least I think so!

Best of all, it’s a relatively easy project and a lot of fun to do with your bridesmaids and family. Here’s what you need:

:: STEP ONE ::

Format your names on your placecards. For mine, I used a computer to make a rectangular box that is 7.5″ wide x .75″ tall. I then put a text box inside each box with the guest’s name. You could also handwrite the names if you don’t want to use a computer/printer. Cut out each tag.

:: STEP TWO ::

Because I wanted to add sparkle & a pop of color to mine, I painted the back and edge of each tag with metallic gold paint. {I used Martha Stewart’s Metallic Acrylic paint in Gold. You can get this at Michael’s Craft Store.} I wanted a distressed look so I didn’t aim for perfect edges. Allow paint on tags to dry.

:: STEP THREE ::

Once the paint is dry curl tag around a pencil and lay end down on a table for several minutes. {I let mine sit for at least 15 minutes.} Then slip them off the pencil and place on pumpkin stem, pulling tag down so that curl is more of a spiral. Voila! You have a scroll style placecard fit for a royal wedding!

You can use any color of paint as your accent making this an easy project to customize to your unique wedding.

I hope you like this project and will give it a try and please leave a comment telling me if you do! I’d love to hear from you!

Happy Celebrating!
