We’ve Got Our Winners!

I know we are a few days late with our announcement and I certainly wouldn’t be blogging on a Friday evening if it weren’t something really special so… without any further hesitation the whole team at A Charlottesville Wedding Gift 2013 are excited to announce that this year’s winners are an amazing local couple:

Edward Warwick and Gary White

Over the coming months we’ll tell you more about Edward and Gary, what compelled the judges to choose them out of all the truly extraordinary entries that were received, and we’ll be peeking in on the wedding planning process as it unfolds…  but for now, I will just tell you how much fun we had surprising them with the news today….

Here’s how it happened… luckily a good friend of Edward and Gary’s had submitted a letter of support so we gave Wendy a call and she helped us set up the surprise.  Wendy ordered cupcakes from Capellino’s Crazy Cakes (apparently one of their favorites) on the Downtown Mall and didn’t have too much trouble convincing her friends to pick them up for her.

Switch scene to 5:15 this afternoon… Jack Looney (our wonderful photographer); Dickie Morris (wedding planner extraordinaire) and I were nonchalantly hanging around just outside Capellino’s when Edward emerged with a box of cupcakes… but where was Gary?  I don’t know what was running through Edward’s head when he saw us but it only took him a second to realize what we were doing there and a happy but stunned expression covered his face.   We immediately encouraged him to get Gary to join us (needed help with those heavy cupcake boxes :-)) so he could share in the surprise and about 15 minutes later Gary arrived and once he realized what was going on kept saying, “Oh, my God!, Oh, my God!”

Dani Antol of Rock Paper Scissors and Stephanie Marie of The Hook (and also one of our judges) happily joined us while Gary and Edward began to get used to the fact that this was really happening and, yes, the dozens of generous wedding professionals who’re donating their time and talents are going to create a splendid wedding for them…    Enjoy these fun pics of the surprise unfolding…

This could not have happened to a more AWESOME couple! And to add to Charlotte’s comment above, “Fasten your seat belts, everyone. This is gonna be a fun and fabulous ride!”
